Revised dates: February 7-9, 2001 Tel Aviv, Israel

Dear Colleague,

IMTM 2001, the seventh International Mediterranean Tourism Market, will take place at the Israel Trade Fairs & Exhibitions Center, Tel Aviv, February 7-9, 2001, under the auspices of the Israel Ministry of Tourism, El Al Israel Airlines, the Israel Hotel Association and the Association for Tourism Tel Aviv-Jaffa. As in the past, IMTM is being organized by ORTRA, one of Israel's major congress and exhibition organizers, and by Israel Travel News Ltd., Israel's only major tourism publishing house.

Isn’t it about time that you too, learned what seasoned tourist have known for the past 20 years? Every year more than 30 percent of the Israeli population travels abroad, and per capita, it is one of the most sought-after markets in the world for those in the know!

For this reason in particular, with each passing year, more and more countries and tourism enterprises from abroad choose IMTM as a worthwhile venue for showcasing their offerings and exposing their products to the Israeli traveling public - one of the most widely traveled in the entire world.

Alongside this growing interest, incoming tourism to Israel and the other countries of the Eastern Mediterranean region is still a primary focus for IMTM. 1999 was a record year in Israel for incoming tourism and millennium tourism activities in the Holy Land are just now beginning in earnest. During this period, even conservative estimates point to a doubling of the number of tourists who will visit Israel.

With the visit by His Holiness Pope John-Paul II (and especially after peace agreements are signed between Israel and its neighbors), an era of unprecedented tourism development in the country, and perhaps in the region as well, is drawing near. What better way can there be to make the first decade of the new millennium work for you, than to take part in Israel’s annual tourism fair, take the pulse of what is happening in the country, meet with suppliers and get a head start on the market!

In order to ensure meaningful attendance from abroad, both El Al and the Israel Hotel Association have committed themselves to providing their services to recognized tour operators and/or travel agents at greatly reduced rates. Discount tickets on El Al flights for IMTM (which can be reserved only at El Al offices and GSA's around the world) will be available to all agents, operators and exhibitors, subject to confirmed registration for the fair, and registered attendees will be granted substantial discounts in Tel Aviv area hotels.

Whether you sell Israel and the Eastern Med at the moment, or whether this region is still an unexplored destination for you, at IMTM, agents and/or operators will be afforded the perfect opportunity to get a first-hand look at an exciting, dynamic country and its fast-developing tourism infrastructure: new hotels and international hotel chains; regional tourism associations; fascinating attractions and sites; programs offered by Israel's highly professional tour operators, ground handlers and incentive and conference organizers - all under one roof, to help members of the travel trade plan their Israel and Eastern Mediterranean programs while experiencing Israel “in the flesh.”

Participants
