Battelle
Marty Toomajian is the president of Energy, Health & Environment at Battelle. He leads a diverse group of businesses that include Energy and Environment, Process and Product Development, and Health and Analytics. These global businesses provide advanced technology and engineering, as well as product testing and evaluation services for both commercial and government clients. Marty manages more than 1,000 staff who perform over $250M in annual contract research and product development.
Marty’s leadership expertise spans more than 25 years and includes strategy development, operational oversight, marketing, and sales across a portfolio of upstream and downstream oil and gas services, alternative fuels and energy management, agribusiness and environmental services, medical device and consumer product development, public health support and data analytics.
Marty is responsible for advancing new business for Battelle through highly profitable licensing agreements and forming commercially successful Battelle subsidiaries. He serves as a director on several company boards, including Battelle Science and Technology India (chair), Winner Water Services, and The Healthcare Colloquium (chair). He was also a member of the Bluefin Robotics board of directors. In addition to company boards of directors, Marty serves on advisory boards for the Chemical Engineering and Material Science Department at Michigan State University and for the Institute for Materials Research at Ohio State University.
Marty earned Master of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees in chemical engineering from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan respectively. He has a Certificate of Business from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. Marty is a co-author of one U.S. patent.
