Director General

Ido Sharir joined Israel Ministry of Science Technology and Space in September 2014 as Director General, bringing with him strong managerial experience and a proven track record in the Israeli public and private sector.
Sharir worked alongside the 9th President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres, in various senior posts during the period 2008-2014. In recent years, Ido served as Director General of the Peres Center for Peace, Israel leading nonprofit organization focusing on the promotion of lasting peace and advancement in the Middle-East, based on mutual understanding, tolerance, and cooperation. Under his leadership, the Center went through a full restructure process both on the organizational side as for the mission statement, projects and activities.
Previously, Sharir served as Chief of Staff to President Peres, working to execute the various dimensions of the Presidential agenda. Under his leadership, the Presidential team carried out over 40 global diplomatic missions, engaging with world leaders. Throughout his tenure, Ido served to carry out the President's international and regional agenda and continued peace efforts, coordinating the President's meetings with key EU, US and Arab leaders. He also facilitated the President's domestic agenda, managing the President's relationships with key political figures, technological and socio-economic leaders across all sectors of the Israeli society.
During his years in the private sector, Ido focused on international financial restructuring of companies in crisis. Working with a group of experts, Ido oversaw the implementation of restructuring strategies in the Israeli and US markets.
Ido is a Major (Res.) in the Israel Defense Forces and a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya (LLB, BA). He is married and father of 2 daughters.
