Guidelines for Poster Presentations

The requirements for a Poster Session paper for publication in the Proceedings are the same as for an Oral presentation. The Poster Session provides an opportunity for the presenter to engage in direct discussions with small groups of interested viewers. Be prepared to use your time in the Poster Session to explain your work and to answer specific questions.. The Posters are organized by topic so that papers on similar topics will be grouped together. If you are assigned to participate in Poster Session, here are some guidelines to help you in your preparation:

Poster Space:
Plan on using an area that consists of a “push-pin bulletin board” (poster board) of dimension 1.0 x 2.4 meters (4 x 8 ft). We recommend a poster size of 90 cm wide x 150 cm high. The push-pins will be provided to attach your material onto the poster board.

Content:
Provide an Introduction or Outline and a Summary or Conclusion. Use bullet charts, figures, tables, equations, and photographs as applicable to highlight the important technical content of your paper. Simply posting the pages of the written version of your paper is a very poor practice for a Poster Session. The title of your poster should appear in block letters that are at least 10 cm (4 in) high. Try to make the majority of the lettering at least 5 cm high, and please be considerate to those viewers who are standing at a distance, by making the majority of the material easily legible from a distance of 2 meters. Graphs and charts should be at least 25 x 30 cm (8.5 x 11 in) or larger. The use of color graphics and headline-style phrases in bullet charts, will allow the audience to quickly see the theme of your topic and grasp your intended message. It is a good idea to sequentially number your posted material. This will indicate to the viewer a logical progression through your presentation.

The Poster area of the conference will be available well before the Poster Session, which is scheduled for 14:00 to 16:00 on October 21 and 14:30-16:30 on October 22 (when Poster presenters are expected to be present).  Poster presenters are encouraged to mount their posters before 11AM on the day of their assigned session.  This will provide the added benefit of posters being available for view by conference attendees during the lunch period. Poster presenters that wish to include demonstration hardware, software, and/or audio-visual presentations must contact comcas@ortra.com well in advance of the conference. Note at least one author of the Poster must be registered for COMCAS 2013.

Session Setup and Presentation:
Poster boards will be available for the presenters from Monday, October 21 at 08.00 until Tuesday, October 22 by the end of lectures. Poster presenters should refer to the final program and note the date and number of their presentation. The poster boards are numbered. Please use the poster board that bears the number of your presentation as listed in the program (i.e. if your poster is listed as poster No. 1, use poster board No. 1). Poster presenters are requested to stand by their poster during their designated Poster Session to answer questions.  If you wish to step away from your poster board, please return as soon as possible. Your presentation area will be clustered with other presentations having a similar topic, so an interested viewer is likely to appear at any time. It is very helpful to have paper copies of your written submission to the Conference Proceedings available for visitors to take with them. Presenters often provide their business cards and solicit the cards of their visitors so they may correspond in the future.  Upon conclusion of the Poster session, please promptly remove all of your presentation materials.

We look forward to seeing you in Tel Aviv for COMCAS 2013.
